The way we think
Food and Agriculture is both very global and very local at the same time. It is very functional and emotional at the same time. And it is big business and grassroots at the same time.
We believe there are six fundamental building blocks which will lay the foundations for a thriving Food and Agriculture sector.
Sustainability
The industry has a significant impact on the environment. And with this impact comes responsibility. Embedding sustainability in our strategies is a necessity for the planet, for the industry and for consumers, with ramifications across the Sustainable Development Goals.
Consumer Awareness
Consumers are more aware than ever of their food’s origin, quality and health impact. They want more transparency and are demanding better food. This scrutiny is a threat to the status quo and an opportunity for the companies which align themselves with new consumer trends.
Diversity and Inclusion
Food and Agriculture is a very global business but the industry is still lagging in diversity, especially upstream. The focus on fixing this gap will unleash the hidden potential of the sector, driving significant improvements throughout the food supply chain.
Innovation
Innovation can significantly contribute to improving the Food and Agriculture sector, positively impacting supply chains and leading to better food systems. Innovation comes in many forms, in particular the industry’s adoption of technology which is still low.
Collaboration
The new normal will require a different approach to value creation and collaboration is going to be critical. Previous cycles were driven purely by competition but we all have more in common when looking to the future and want to collaborate on building win-win solutions for all stakeholders.
Supply chains
Supply chains are global, complex and volatile but need to be resilient. Our common challenge is to improve the industry’s impact, changing the journey from farm to fork by shaping future supply chains through sustainability, technology and towards consumers.
